That’s 1.6 gallons or 6 liters per flush.
I wonder if the person who designed these toilets used at my work ever took a dump in them! I mean, their design pisses me off enough to write a blog entry about it.
They use all this water to gently glide it over the toilet bowl. So I have to flush about 3 times before I give up on getting rid of all the skid marks in there, and I’ve wasted 18 liters of water in the process! And to make things worse nobody will want to sit on there until someone with a brush comes along and cleans it.
So to the idiot at Kohler who designed this toilet - I invite you to go for a Mad4Mex burrito and go use your toilet. See how you like it…
Or go to Europe and see how 3 liters can do a better job cleaning everything up, with only a little bit of splash back ![]()

Yes, I completely agree. These things are a disaster. Unfortunately, I believe that you have California to thank for them. While our standards on air quality have been good for the nation at large, our requirements on water usage have had bad side effects like these stupid toilets. I miss the old ones from a house in Berkeley that must have been at least twice the size and built in the 1920’s. If you got close to them during a flush, you’d get taken in too!
Of course, the best was in Zagreb where there was just this faucet you turned on to flush that was connected directly to the water main of the hotel. To water tank. No flushing problems whatsoever! Croatian understand toilets very well and what’s done in there.
