Race report

March 26th, 2006

I can imagine that reading other people’s race reports is boring, but oh well… I did great in my half marathon, ran 1:52 which was great compared to my goal of 2 hours. Felt great the whole time too, and it was really cool to see my whole family and Crystal cheering for me near the end. They also discovered how much support along the way meant for runners, so they were really excited about encouraging other runners too.
The course was pretty boring, but at certain places I really wish I had my camera with me. Even though this was in an area really close to Zagreb, we ran through some villages where gypsy kids were running around in a stream and numerous mutts were walking around yards full of junk and barking at something. It was especially nice to run next to some farms where the smell of fertilizer gave you an extra incentive to run faster…

Now that this race is done, I can dedicate even more time to good beer and gaming. Got another fun game, Through the Desert, which works well for 2 to 5 players alike.

Congratulations on the race. Sounds like those steps have been paying off. It’s like my Dad always told me, “don’t forget, you beat all those other people who didn’t even show up for the race too.”
